Barry White & The Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap!

by Alison Quine on March 12, 2011

Press Play! Kick off your shoes, grab a glass of wine or a random man and join me for this year’s Great Big Stitched Postcard Swap, yay!

For the past 3 years, the lovely Beth Nicholls over at Do What You Love For Life has organized a Worldwide Postcard Swap.

Last year, over 85 people from 13 countries on 5 continents stitched up a storm!

The rules are easy to follow. Beth decides on the theme, this year its Lurve. You email her your address and she emails you a swap partner and their address.

Then you pop on a bit of Barry or whatever tickles your fancy and start creating!

Here’s mine..

Love Theme

I had a great time creating! I used a piece of red card, some acrylic paints, glue, sand, music paper, foil, a leather heart, a cork sheet and a black sharpie.

First I used the Sharpie to write the word “LOVE” and then I took some small scissors and carefully cut out the letters. Then I used some glue to stick the cork to the card. Then I arranged all the other bits and pieces and stuck them down. Finally I mixed some metallic acrylic paint with some sand and using a plastic spatula I created a love heart shape on the card. Then I cheated because I’m not a fan of sewing. {One of the rules was to use some stitching on the card somewhere} So my lovely Greek mother in law used her machine and sewed around the edges of the card for me!

I took a photograph, uploaded it to the Flickr Group and popped it in the post. It’s now on it’s way to sweet California!

Then I had an idea… so still listening to Barry White, I danced on over to my Zazzle Shop to whip up a Lurve tie – respect to Barry! I’m sure it would have looked great on him! What do you think?

While I was there I got carried away and made some postcards, stamps and a whole load of other lurve goodies!
